The blight is horrible in Oxnard. The City does not prosecute owners that let their property run down. Try reporting a rundown house in your neighborhood. All u get is excuses about how busy the code enforcement is and how they can't investigate. If you enforced the law the word would get out to obey the law, duh. Drive by 300 Block of East Cedar Street to see an example of the blight that isn't going away. The owner needs to be accountable.

In my humble opinion, Oxnard has spent too much time over-developing new housing tracts without having an overall master plan for beautifying what we currently have here in Oxnard. Oxnard has stunning beaches and breath-taking marinas, but most people passing through our city miss this because both PCH and Highway 101 cut away from our beaches between Malibu and Ventura.

Thank you for speaking your vision to eloquently, we couldn't agree with you more on it. My family has just recently moved to Oxnard and are quite taken back by the run down appearance of the city's neighborhoods and downtown district. Save for the huge developments west of Victoria Avenue and the Port Hueneme Naval Base, the residential blight appears in various neighborhoods from one location of the city to the next. I am searching the internet for future beautification campaigns or programs to be implemented and am finding the search rather difficult and bleak. I tried calling the Oxnard Vision Center call number but only met with answering machine recordings. Perhaps this is part of the problem. At last though, I toured Ventura's beach promenade the other day with extreme delight. What an asset this would also be in Oxnard.
